    Biography

    As one of today’s premiere stand-up comics Jo Koy has come a long way from his modest beginnings performing at a Las Vegas coffee house. The hugely relatable comic pulls inspiration from his family, specifically his son. 

    In 2020, Koy kicked off the tour with a bang with four sold-out shows and selling over 25,000 tickets at both the Chase Center in San Francisco and The Forum in Los Angeles. He continues selling-out and breaking records at some of the most prestigious venues around the world including Mall of Asia Arena (Manila, PH), Coca-Cola Arena (Dubai), ICC Theatre (Sydney, AU), and Radio City Music Hall (New York City).

    In March, the comedian released his first autobiography, Mixed Plate with Harper Collins Publishers. In this funny and moving memoir, Koy uncovers the stories behind his stand-up: the conflict, the drama, and the laughter as he struggles to find his place in the entertainment industry, a country and the world.

    This spring Koy will shoot the Amblin Partners and Dan Lin’s Ridback comedy film, Easter Sunday. The feature film will be based on Koy’s life experiences and will be set around a family gathering to celebrate Easter Sunday.

    The comedian has had five highly-rated and successful stand-up specials on Comedy Central and Netflix including his latest variety special In His Element current streaming on Netflix with plans to shoot his 3rd stand-up special in 2022. He can also be heard on his weekly podcast, The Koy Pond with Jo Koy by Starburns Audio.

    In 2018, Koy was given the prestigious “Stand-Up Comedian Of The Year” award at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal. In 2019, the comedian reached #1 on the Billboard Charts for his stand-up comedy album, Live From Seattle.

    Koy has appeared on over 140 episodes of Chelsea Lately as a season regular roundtable guest.     Biography

    Before Comedy he was a licensed cosmetologist working at the worlds famous Jose Eber Salon in Beverly Hills. He still laughs at the fact that he was the only straight Filipino Hairdresser on Rodeo Drive. In 2003 Joey won the regional "Kings of Comedy" competition ran by Latham Entertainment who is the founder of "The Original Kings of Comedy" which include, Bernie Mac, Cedric the Entertainer, D.L. Hughley and Steve Harvey. Joey was invited to perform with Latham Entertainment at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and the Universal Amphitheater in Hollywood.   

    Joey has done voice overs for the Nutshack Cartoon and has been featured on VH1, G4 Tech TV, Showtime (Pacific Rim Comedy with Edwin San Juan) and on HBO with P Diddy's comedy special. He was on a coast-to-coast Verizon APAHM Tour with Jay Park and the Headliner on The Filipino Kingz Tour. Joey has hosted two T.V. Shows on Myx TV called "Thats My Jam" and “Myx Rated” which won a Telly Award. His past guests have been Justin Bieber, PitBull, Boyz II Men, Naughty by Nature, Jason Derulo and Amerie. Joey has also opened for Al B. Sure, The Jets,Black Eyed Peas, The Jabbawockeez, Bruno Mars and JoKoy’s Just Kidding Tour.  

    In 2017 Joey taped an hour special called “The Ring Leader” which was on Hulu & Amazon Prime. He also was on Warner Brothers animation film called “Luis and The Aliens”. Joey was also in Lumpia with a Vengeance and The Fabulous Filipino Brothers followed by a new special on Netflix called Jokoy In His Elements which was filmed in the Philippines. Joey’s latest venture was with Steven Spielberg’s family comedy film, “Easter Sunday.” starring JoKoy.  In theaters on Easter April 17th, 2022.

    When he is not on Tour, he enjoys being at home drinking coffee and taking pictures of his snoring Bulldog & 5 lb Chihuahua. As a Cancer survivor his biggest mission is to bring healing laughter through standup comedy. Joey says he is living his dream and now wants to be the first Eurasian on Cribs to have a chandelier in his mobile home.

Coming off of the highly anticipated Universal Picture film, Easter Sunday and his recent Netflix special, Jo Koy: Live From The Los Angeles Forum, Comedian Jo Koy announces his 2023 Jo Koy World Tour. The tour will include a stop in Cincinnati at the legendary Taft Theatre on March 23Joey Guila will join the show as support.

Koy started 2022 with a bang, selling-out the Climate Pledge Arena (over 14,000 tickets) in his hometown of Seattle. Today, he continues breaking sales records at some of the most prestigious venues around the world including Mall of Asia Arena (Manila, PH), The Forum (Los Angeles), Coca-Cola Arena (Dubai), ICC Theatre (Sydney, AU), and Radio City Music Hall (New York City) to name a few. In November 2022, Koy will headline for the first time at Madison Square Garden for the NYCF. In 2017, Koy broke a record for the most tickets sold by a single artist at 23,000 tickets and 11 sold-out shows at The Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu. In response, the mayor’s office in Honolulu proclaimed November 24th as “Jo Koy Day.” The Jo Koy World Tour will feature ALL NEW material.

His highly anticipated 4th Netflix stand-up special, Live From The Los Angeles Forum will premiere globally on September 13th. The special is a follow up to his 2019 Netflix special, Comin’ In Hot. Koy has already had four highly rated and successful stand-up specials on Comedy Central and Netflix. In June 2020, the comedian released his first variety special, Jo Koy: In His Elements on Netflix in which Koy brings the laughs and beats to Manila, spotlighting local culture in a one-of-a-kind show featuring Filipino-American comedians, DJs and B-boys.

Koy recently starred in the Universal Picture film Easter Sunday, set around a family gathering to celebrate Easter Sunday, the comedy is based on Jo Koy's life experiences and stand-up comedy. The film is currently available on-demand and will release on Blu-ray & DVD this October.
