Indian Comedian and Actor Vir Das announces his new international Mind Fool Tour which will stop in countries worldwide over seven months beginning with Tokyo, Japan on September 13 at Yamano Hall. The tour will visit Cincinnati, OH for a performance at Taft Theatre on Friday, November 3.
Das’ new tour comes on the heels of releasing a universally acclaimed fourth Netflix comedy special, clocking in as last year’s second best-selling act in India’s crowded live entertainment market, and ranking as one of the top comedy sellers worldwide. The international star will perform on four continents in multiple iconic venues including Carnegie Hall in New York City, Esplenade in Singapore, Dubai Opera in UAE, and The Eventim Apollo in London, to name a few.
Vir Das is emerging as one of the most beloved global comedic voices of the 21st century with The New York Times gushing “No artist embodies the globalization of stand-up like Vir Das.” His fourth and most recent Netflix comedy special Landing premiered in December 2022 to universal praise from fans and critics alike. The special, which he also directed, is a story about freedom, foolishness, the west, the east, the notion of home, and what it means to be a citizen of one nation in a global world. The Netflix hour is a capstone to Vir having performed the show more than 180 times in countries across the globe including a wildly successful run at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It’s a show that applies to every citizen in every country in the world with Decider offering that the hour offers “plenty of food for thought…for both current citizens of India, Indian-American children of immigrants, and even those of us with no ties to India.”
Landing, which The Daily Beast called Das’ “strongest hour of stand-up yet,“ is his fourth special with Netflix. His previous one Vir Das: For India received a 2021 International Emmy Nomination for “Best Comedy.” In addition to his global success on the standup comedy stage, Vir has created, produced, and starred in multiple series, including the ABC spy drama-comedy Whiskey Cavalier, the thriller Hasmokh for Netflix, and the travel show Jestination Unknown for Amazon. He is currently developing his own single-camera comedy with Fox, CBS Studios and Andy Samberg’s production company Party Over Here.
